Hand Building (Tuesday afternoons)

Service Description

Beginners will start by learning the main hand building techniques of slab building, coiling and pinch pots. We will also discuss the design of work, including what kind of functional and sculptural forms suit the hand building process. For those with more experience, you will develop your skills through more complicated forms and surfaces. We will also explore how to decorate surfaces of different clays using a range of finishes like glazes, oxides, slips, stencilling, under glazes and textures. Adult class (18+). NB: The fee includes tuition and glazing. Not included are the clay & firing. The term fee has been reduced as we're not able to offer our own firing whilst we are offsite at Le Studio. Clay - you can select from our range. Firing - can be organised via Will who has a kiln at Le Studio. Students to liaise and pay him directly.
