THE LANGUAGE OF COLOUR with Catherine Hamilton

The palettes’ of all great painters begin with a selection of just a few tubes of paint that can be mixed to create the harmony and unity of the composition. Knowing and understanding what colours to start the journey with sows the seed for painting success.

This workshop explores the language of colour. It will show how colours are created and can then adapt to any range of palette used. All painters in all media need to understand how colour works and, critically, how to create their own palette. Anumber of visual exercises and compositions will address how to see and respond to colour. Although we will use either acrylic and/or gouache in this workshop, artists using any medium including watercolour, pastel and oil or coloured inks will benefit. Designed for all painters from beginners to advanced, from 18 years of age upwards.
