Karen Salter
Weekend Exhibition
10-11 October
As part of the Beaumaris Modern Open Weekend 2026 artist, Karen Salter will be exhibiting a selection of her recent work in the BAG Gallery, which will also be registration HQ for Beaumaris Modern's Open Weekend - where you can step inside a carefully selected collection of Beaumaris’ most remarkable mid century homes.
Salter's work references architectural forms, interior design and social history, evoking nostalgia for the optimistic past of the 1960s and 70s.
ARTIST BIO
Melbourne/Naarm artist Karen Salter has developed a painting-based practice since completing a Diploma of Visual Arts in 2013. Employing colour as a device to render form and depth, Karen is interested in creating the illusion of reality rather than producing a literal interpretation.
Her work has been shown in solo exhibitions at Libby Edwards Galleries, Glen Eira City Council Gallery, Sofitel Melbourne on Collins and City Library Gallery. She has been shortlisted for the Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize and selected for the Bayside Local exhibition at Bayside Gallery. Her work has been shown in several group shows.
Karen has a Bachelor of Arts Interior Design from RMIT University and worked as a set designer/art director for television productions and in corporate events before focusing on art making.
