Service Description
This abstract/conceptual drawing class is designed to move beyond representational "likeness" into the realm of instinctive, process-based exploration. By shifting focus from what is being drawn to how it is being drawn, students learn to treat the page as a site of interaction between their intent, the material, and the element of chance. This class focuses on the qualities of drawing as an act of creation and a process that connects the mind and the hand. We are exploring: 1. Materiality: working across pencils, charcoal and ink, but also alternative concepts of drawing as printing and embroidery 2. Gesture: how the energy of gesture matters to the outcome of a drawing, pretty much as the tone of our voice matters in what we say. 3. Rhythm: The power of repetition in drawing, creating rhythm and a sense of musicality. 4. Textures and layers: exploring the different textures of our materials, especially when mixed with other materials. 5. Embracing accidents: instead of erasing mistakes, using them to discover alternative paths of making 6. Exploring unconventional tools: like feathers, sticks and sponges 7. Finding poetry in “little things”: discovering the beauty of a line, a shape, a grid or a texture. 8. MISSED CLASSES If you are unable to attend a class, please email info@beaumarisartgroup.com as soon as possible. REFUNDS AND TRANSFERS (before your course has commenced) If you need to cancel your course before it starts, we require at least one week's notice. This allows us the opportunity to fill your place. Please see the conditions below: • 14 or more days prior - full refunds (an admin fee of $30 applies) • 7-14 days prior - 50% refund • Less than 7 days - no refund (unless a doctor’s certificate is provided) ONCE YOUR COURSE HAS COMMENCED: • Refunds (full or partial) are not available for missed classes or changes in personal circumstances. • Bookings can potentially be transferred to another term, depending on availability. • Your place cannot be transferred to another person after the course has begun. COURSE CANCELLATIONS DUE TO INSUFFICIENT ENROLMENTS All courses require minimum enrolment numbers to proceed. If a course is cancelled by Beaumaris Art Group due to insufficient bookings, you will receive a full refund. TUTOR ABSENCE When a tutor is absent, we will provide a qualified substitute teacher to run the session as scheduled. If a replacement cannot be found, that class will be rescheduled, usually to the week following the final week of term. No refunds can be issued to students.
