Service Description

This course incorporates 20th century art history with hands-on art making. Learn about artists' lives and work and create artworks inspired by them. This class is open to all levels, beginners welcome! We will dive into the lives and legacies of: Week 1 Peggy Guggenheim (recycled cardboard, glue, photocopies) Week 2 Roy Lichtenstein (acrylics/ Markers- canvas pad) Week 3 Outsiders Art (acrylics- canvas pad) Week 4 Ruth Osawa (thin wire, or wool threads and crochet hooks) Week 5 Keith Haring (Markers- paper) Week 6 J. M Basquiat (acrylics mixed media – canvas pad) Week 7 David Hockney (acrylics mixed media – canvas pad) Week 8 Eduardo Paolozzi (collage, paper mosaics) Our Creative Process Our sessions are designed to be both intellectual and tactile. We don't just copy art; we inhabit the artist's mindset. Each session follows a curated three-step flow: 1. Discovery: A visual presentation covering the artist’s biography and photographic archives. 2. Dialogue: An open discussion to unpack their theories and impact. 3. Creation: An immersive ';inspired making' session where we experiment with the artist's specific processes and techniques.
